2012!!

Well here we are in the year 2012. Hope you all enjoyed New Year celebrations!!  New Year's Eve was quiet for us which was nice, but New Year's Day was busy and awash with fun and laughter - a nice way to start the year.

After watching the film '2012' last night, it made me realise just how fragile life is.  As I watched the earth start to disappear beneath people, mountains explode and seas roar valiantly it brought home to me even more of an understanding of why our hope and trust should be in Jesus.

In the film people could do nothing to save themselves and everything was out of their control. It reminded me of how things must have been in the days of Noah when the flood came and people were scratching the sides of the Ark trying to get in and be saved.

We can look around the world today and see many of the signs that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 - nations against nations, earthquakes, famines, etc and 2 Timothy 3 says "But know this, in the last days perilous times will come for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power......"  The Message Bibles says people will be "allergic to God".

The Bible teaches that things will get worse but that as Christians we are to "fight the good fight of faith and lay hold on eternal life..." (1 Timothy 6 v 12) and Jesus encourages us to "...look up and lift up our hearts" (Luke 21 v 18. underline mine) and in Matthew 24 v 44..."be ready.."

As I continue to be grateful for my salvation in Jesus Christ, I am also aware that many people around me are "allergic to God" and I truly fear for these people.  I pray that this year the Holy Spirit will lead me to people whose hearts are prepared to hear and accept the saving grace that is offered to them by Jesus Christ.
My prayer is that I wont leave anyone behind, scratching the sides of the Ark, but that my friends, my family, neighbours, people I personally come into contact with will no longer be "allergic to God" but will be looking to Jesus. The Saviour.

I do believe that this will  be a year of many changes, some not for the good.  But my trust and my hope is in Jesus alone.  He has my eternity in His hands.   How about you?

Amen Carol,
I have never heard of 2012 but if it is like any of the "left Behind" type movies, I know what you mean.........

I truly believe the Lord's coming is not too far off as well, and I too,
hope and pray for softened hearts of
those I come in contact with as well.

Hope you have a Joyfully Blessed, Healthy and Productive New year for Him! Thanks for dropping by it was
good to hear from you.

Wonderful post Carol! I too believe that we are in the end times. I cannot help and believe it when you read the Biblical prophecies. And like you, I am also saddened and alarmed at how people have fallen away from Christianity. Of course, it says that this is the way it will be in the Bible, but still some times it is shocking to hear people that claim to be Christians spouting the "many paths to salvation" or "we all worship the same God" bologna that the new age talk show hosts spout. It's all very sad. All we can do is to pray (not that is an only) and and take care of our little corner of the world and be prepared to minister to those when they finally wake up.

"....look up and lift up your hearts", this is a beautiful truth from Jesus. Look up and lift up your hearts always.

Set our minds on things above, a wonderful way to live.

Carol, indeed life is fragile and we should spend every moment thanking God for the gift of it!
