We are made to worship.....

My belief is that one of the most important and essential elements to worshipping God is to learn about Him. To know Him. The more we know God the deeper and more intimate our worship will be.

Our worship is not just reserved for special times, or church attendance – our true worship is a lifestyle. A lifestyle which honours and glorifies our Lord.

A lifestyle of worship requires a thankful heart.

‘Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him and bless His name’ (Ps 100 v 4)

Eph 5 v 20 encourages us to ‘give thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ’.

Giving thanks changes us and helps us to rise above our circumstances.

A lifestyle of worship requires an obedient heart.

Obedient because we do not want to grieve the one we love. In 1 Samuel 15 we are told that obedience is better than sacrifice. God is more concerned with the condition of our heart than how we act or appear to others.

A lifestyle of worship requires a repentant heart.

We are to know His grace. Do not hold anything back from our Father. Do not try to hide a sin. Bring all to Him. In repentance.
Jesus will rescue you.
His mercy is new every morning. And through His grace and mercy He cleanses us.

I have heard it said that we are all made with a hole in us. This is a hole that only our Lord and Saviour can fill.
In March 1997 Jesus came and filled that hole in me. Since then I have desired to know Him more. Together, we have been through some wonderful times and also some not so wonderful times, however He has always been there, pulling me through cheering me on. Living through me.

How can I not worship and live my life for the One who saved me, the One who redeemed me, the One who died and rose again for me. The One who loves me and longs for my worship.

As I worship He smiles, He inhabits my praises, He allows power to be released in my life so I can live my life for Him. Our relationship is deepened. I am blessed with peace and joy.

Come, let us worship our King of Kings.

In the words of Chris Tomlin – You and I are made to worship.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. am interested in your posts re worship.
Two thoughts -
First -so many modern worship songs beging with "I..." or "We..." and the focus seems on us not on Jesus.
Second - have you read the book "Worship" by Ellie Kreider. Shes a Mennonite writer and has some well thought out ideas which may interest you![even if you do not agree]

ooh! just noticed word verification is "Angies" - how cool is that?!

Hi Angela. I tried to look up the book Worship on the net, but couldn't find it. I did find an article written by a group of Mennonites and from what I quickly read I can gather that they seem to focus their worship correctly on our Lord.
We are made to worship our Lord and it's a great privilage to do so.
Thanks for your valuable comments.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Carol, thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. It's always wonderful to meet fellow British Christian bloggers!

Your post brought to mind Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

It really struck me that giving our whole bodies, everything we do and say and think, to the Lord is our act of worship not just a few words spoken or sung in church or even at home. And I love that the second part tells us that the best way to know God's will, and thus know God, is to give ourselves to the Lord and to no longer conform to the pattern of this world.

You have a lovely blog.

Many blessings.

Carol,
It is so evident that Our Lord is working in your life. You are so right, how can we not worship Our Savior? He died for us!He also stands in the gap for us each day. I can feel great sadness when I slip(sin) and grieve Our Lord. I wish never to hurt/grieve Our Lord in any way. I invited Jesus into my heart when I was just a little girl(11 years old). I could not imagine living my life without Him. He has pulled me through so many difficult times. The year of my spirtual rebirth was 1973. I can still recall the sweet spirit calling softly on my heart. I am so in love with Jesus. He is my everything. Thank you again dear sister for reaching over the ocean and sharing your journey with Jesus with me.
Your sister in Christ,
Bren
Have you ever been to States? I have never been to England, but I would love to visit one day. I have actually never been on a airplane before. (very fearful for me)
